One of the most important things to know before the actual photoshoot is the preparation. And would you think that this is the most common question as well? Here are a few tips and tricks to save yourself from an unnecessary headache...

Prepare the little ones

Children may sometimes feel hesitant during a photo session. They might not understand the situation, with a stranger taking photos and asking them to smile. Explain to them what will take place. We will have fun, dance, and make it an enjoyable experience to get them excited. Everyone prefers joyful children in unforgettable moments. ❤️

Outfit

Apparel plays a significant role in the session, and ensuring it is done correctly can greatly impact the final images. Below are some dos and don'ts to assist you:

The key is to steer clear of brand names and logos. This session is focused on you, and we aim to refrain from promoting any particular businesses.

Avoid neon colors and bold patterns as they can be highly distracting to the eyes. Opt for plain or pastel colors instead, as they can enhance the overall image beautifully.

One final note on colors! WHITE! While many believe white looks fantastic in photos, it can actually be quite challenging to capture. If feasible, it's advisable to steer clear of it.

Matching clothing may look great on families, couples, and siblings in person, but it doesn't always translate well in pictures. My suggestion would be to aim for complementary outfits rather than identical ones.

When we photograph only children, they appear fantastic in denim! The pictures can show just how amazing they look when we incorporate denim fabrics.

Don't look at me!

Avoid posing if possible! It may seem strange, but the most captivating photos are the candid ones! I aim to capture genuine interactions and spontaneous moments. How can we make this happen? It's simple! Just engage in play, laughter, tickles, and cuddles. It's that easy :) If you prefer, we can also take some nicely posed shots, but we'll strive to keep them looking as natural as we can.

No rush...

Just relax, slow down, and don't rush anything! Don’t feel pressured to make everything perfect! My sessions don't have a time limit. Just be present with your family, and I’ll do the rest. All you need to do is snuggle your kiddos, enjoy the moment, and we can still capture beautiful images.

What to bring?

Simple items like a hairbrush or lipstick can be incredibly helpful. However, when photographing children, the essential items are snacks, drinks, and a change of clothes, as they may get dirty or muddy.

In case you are not feeling your best on the day of the session...

As humans, we all experience challenging days occasionally. Believe me, I understand this sentiment!

If you find yourself in a bad mood or if things aren't going well for you (or your children) on a particular day, simply send me a message at least 5 hours prior to the photoshoot, and we can reschedule your booking.

What to expect after a photo session?

Following your session, I will be diligently working behind the scenes to craft your stunning images. Your gallery is usually completed within 2 weeks of your session, although I always mention that it may take up to 30 days, especially during peak times such as the Christmas period which is consistently busy.

Once your package is determined, I will provide you with a watermarked gallery for you to choose your preferred images. You also have the option to upgrade your package after reviewing the photos.

Finally, the last step to finalize your portrait experience is to ENJOY YOUR PHOTOS!
